Yes, kids can have a diastasis (separation of the outermost abdominal muscles) too because everyone is born with one! Usually the muscles come together at 3 years old after the nervous system develops. For many children the muscles do not come together and even if they do, they can come apart with continued force on the belly button with exercises like crunches. Crunches are the worst exercise children can do for both their abdominal muscles and their backs. This is because crunches weaken, not strengthen, the abdominal muscles. Yet this is what they are taught in our schools as part of the "fitnessgram" program. This revolutionary video will teach children the research-based Tupler Technique® Program- the only program that focuses on belly bonding (closing separated muscles). Once children learn how to strengthen the abdominal muscles correctly, they will then learn how to use these muscles during activities of daily living and while exercising or doing sporting activities. Children can start this program as early as 5 years old. The Belly Button Boogie Guidebook is a summary of all the exercises in this video. It is not a substitute for the video.
